As Eid-ul-Azha approaches, the bustling streets of the capital are witnessing a surge of shoppers flocking to kitchen markets in a frenzied dash for spices and cooking essentials.

With Eid scheduled for Monday, residents are making sure their kitchens are stocked with everything from spices to kitchen utensils.

The spice shops in Karwan Bazar have become epicenters of activity, with crowds jostling to secure their supply of cinnamon, cumin, cardamom, cloves, and a variety of nuts including pesto nuts and cashews.

Turmeric powder and dried chilies are also in high demand, reflecting the traditional culinary preparations synonymous with the festival. Not limited to spices alone, shoppers are also seizing the opportunity to purchase essential tools such as knives, cleavers, and mats needed for the festive cooking rituals.

The rush isn’t confined to spice markets alone; the fish and vegetable markets are equally packed as residents stock up on fresh produce for their celebratory feasts.
