Speakers at a discussion meeting on “prevention of early marriage and save the children” held here today underlined the need for creating mass awareness and building up social movement against the child marriage.
Jonouddug, a local voluntary organization, in cooperation of Institute of Environment And Development (IED) organized the meeting at north Satpai area in the district town with a view to create massive awareness among the grass-root level people about the bad effect of child marriage, the organizers said. Chaired by convener of the Jonouddug and valiant freedom fighter Haider Jahan Chowdhory, the meeting was addressed, among others, by manager of Bangladsesh Nari Progathi Sangha Netrakona district unit Mrinal Kanti Chakraborty, senior journalist Shamolendu Paul, journalist Alpana Begum and cultural activist Shilpi Bhattacharya and women leader Kalpana Gush.
