Sandeep Lamichhane will play for Rajshahi Warriors in the upcoming Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). After arriving in Bangladesh on Tuesday, the Nepalese spinner started training on Wednesday.
After the practice, he spoke at the press conference and said his goal is to win the BPL title for Rajshahi. Regarding the strength of the team, Lamichhane said, “The potential of our team have extraordinary. Especially when you play in a franchise league, the performance of local players becomes very important. There is a lot of talent in Rajshahi Warriors. I have played with many of them before, so I know them. The entire team are very excited for our first match against Sylhet. The condition within the team is also very positive now.”
“We have a balance everywhere, from the top order to the lower order. Spinners, fast bowlers – there are good players in all departments. Najmul (Shanto) is leading the team, there are experienced players like Mushfiqur Rahim. The foreign players also have a lot of experience. Overall, Rajshahi Warriors are self-sufficient team and everyone is ready to give their best for the title.”
Lamichhane will play for Rajshahi in the BPL mainly at the request of Head Coach Hannan Sarkar, “I was watching the final of the Nepal Premier League. Then he (Hannan Sarkar) messaged me and asked if I wanted to join Rajshahi Warriors. Within a few minutes, we finalised everything. I am grateful to him for the way he made the whole thing easy.”
Expressing his desire to win the title, Lamichhane said, “The goal is only one, to win the match. This is the easiest goal. Along with making the audience happy and earning points for the team. Gratitude for everyone’s love and we will try to win the trophy as a team.”
