The century-old Deohata animal market and market in Mirzapur upazila of Tangail has seen an increase in revenue every year but has not seen any development. Roads are in very bad condition. Although the government revenue has increased year by year, there has been no development in the bazaars and markets. There is no end to the suffering of the traders of this market and the buyers and sellers coming from different areas in terms of movement. If it rains a little, the cow hut is submerged in waist-deep water.
On Monday, Deohata market was searched and it was found that every road is impassable due to waterlogging and waterlogging in animal market. Victims 15-20 traders and at least 20 local residents who came to the market said that the century-old Deohata animal market is very important in Mirzapur municipality and 14 unions. As the market and haat are adjacent to the Dhaka-Tangail highway, thousands of buyers and sellers gather every day. A huge pasar haat is held here every Tuesday. Market sitting regularly every day. If it rains a little, the cow hut gets submerged in water. Traders from Tangail, Bhuapur, Sirajganj, Bogra, Jamalpur, Kushtia, Rangpur, Dinajpur, Kurigram, Gazipur, Manikganj and Dhaka districts come to cow market for cattle. In addition, there is a regular wooden market. Every day thousands of buyers and sellers come from Gokai, Bahuria, Latifpur, Tarafpur, Azgana and Bhaora Unions of the municipality and upazila.
Next to the market there are two land offices of the municipality and the Gokai Union, No. 10 Gokai Union Parishad, a secondary school, a government primary school, a police outpost, several mosques-madrasas and the Dhaka-Tangail highway. Every year the government has been getting revenue from this haat by leasing 40-50 lakh rupees.
Even though the revenue of the government has increased, the roads and streets of this important market have not been touched by any development. Wood market, fish market, cow market, Bhumi Office Road, Union Parishad Road are impassable due to waterlogging due to water all year round. Again, some influential local people have occupied the sides of various roads and established business establishments.
