Plaintiff Abida Sultana (18) (pseudonym) of Muktagachha Md. Alamin (20), father-in-law of Rafiqul Islam, spoke to her in an offensive manner on a video call through Facebook Messenger, taking advantage of a 1-year love affair.
The defendant secretly recorded the video call conversation without the victim’s knowledge.
On 11/12/2024, she got married to a certain Abul Kalam (pseudonym) through a family arrangement. After learning about the victim’s marriage, she threatened the victim in various ways and pressured her to have physical relations. When she did not agree to this, she made an offensive and obscene video of the conversation on a video call viral.
When he was helpless, he called the national emergency service “999”, which told the victim to contact the Cyber Crime Cell of 2 APBN, Muktagachha, Mymensingh.
The victim appeared at 2 APBN, Muktagachha, Mymensingh on 27/12/2024 and filed a complaint. On the instructions of 2 Armed Police Battalion, Bangladesh Police Commander (Additional DIG) Ali Ahmed Khan, the Cyber Crime Cell of 2 APBN, Muktagachha, Mymensingh, with the help of advanced information technology of the LIC/CIA branch of APBN Headquarters, located the current location of the said defendant.
The female members of the Cyber Crime Cell used the honey trap technique and later an operation team led by SI (Retd)/Md. Amir Khasru of the Operation Branch arrested him from inside Zaker Restaurant at Kalibari Bus Stand in Ghoga UP No. 07 under Muktagachha Police Station of Mymensingh district.
The mobile phone used by the defendant was seized on the original seizure list and when the arrested accused Md. Alamin (20) was asked about the incident, he initially admitted the truth of the incident.
Later, a regular case was filed under the Pornography Control Act and handed over to Muktagachha Police Station.
