The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has seized assets worth crores
of rupees belonging to several celebrities from West Bengal and Bollywood, including actress Mimi Chakraborty, actor Ankush Hazra and former Indian cricketers Yuvraj Singh and Robin Uthappa, for allegedly promoting and trading illegal betting apps.
According to Indian media reports, assets worth a total of Rs 7.93 crore (about Tk11 crore in Bangladeshi currency) were seized on Friday in a case of
financial fraud through an illegal betting app called ‘1xBet’.
Of this, actress Mimi Chakraborty has assets worth Rs 5.9 million and actor Ankush Hazra has assets worth Rs 4.72 million.
Among the cricketers, Yuvraj Singh’s assets worth Rs 2.5 crore and Robin Uthappa’s assets worth Rs 8.26 lakh have been seized.
Apart from this, the ED has attached assets worth Rs 2.2 crore of Bollywood celebrities Urvashi Rautela, Rs 1 crore of Sonu Sood and Rs 1.26 crore of Neha Sharma. Urvashi’s assets were reportedly in her mother’s name.
The ED has already questioned several celebrities in the long-running betting app scam. Mimi and Ankush were summoned to the central office in Delhi and
questioned for several hours.
