Prof Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah joins as IU new VC

Professor Dr. Nakib Muhammad Nasrullah joined as the 14th Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Islamic
University (IU) in Kushtia.

He was appointed upon approval by the President and Chancellor of the university under the Section 10 (1) of Islamic University Act-1980, a gazette notification signed by the ministry’s deputy secretary Shahinur Rahman confirmed.

Prof Nakib Nasrullah previously served as an Associate Professor of Law Department of Islamic University, Kushtia and later joined the Law Department of Dhaka University. He was a full time professor there.
Besides, Prof Nakib holds a PhD in International Investment Law from

Macquarie University, Australia and has earned numerous scholarships, including the International Macquarie University Research Excellence Scholarship (IMQRES).

He will replace Professor Dr Shaikh Abdus Salam, who resigned from the post of IU VC on August 8. The probe body formed by the University Grants Commission has found evidence of corruption and irregularities committed by the Islamic University vice-chancellor Professor Shaikh Abdus Salam.

The UGC probe team submitted the report to the UGC and the Ministry of Education recently, Professor M Abu Taher, head of the investigation committee and a member of the commission, said on Wednesday.
