The death of a patient named Mariam Begum (75) has been reported due to the negligence of the private Graduate General Hospital authorities and doctors in Joypurhat. Zakir Hossain, son of the deceased, made such a complaint against doctors and hospital authorities in a press conference at Joypurhat Press Club on Saturday afternoon.
Zakir Hossain said in the written complaint in the press conference that their house is in Naopara village of Joypurhat Sadar Upazila. When her mother Mariam Begum fell in the bathroom on February 22 and broke her left leg, they admitted her to the Graduate General Hospital in Amtali area of Joypurhat city on March 3. Dr. Nazrul Islam Nahid operated on his mother in the evening. He is a doctor at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogra. Anesthesia doctor was Dr. Dewan Md. Aminul Islam. If the patient does not regain consciousness two days after the operation, Zakir Hossain and his relatives requested to refer the patient elsewhere for better treatment.
