Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (FM) of Pakistan Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on the invitation of the Interim Government of Bangladesh, will arrive in Dhaka today (Saturday) on a two day visit to cement the bilateral relations between the two country.

According to the High Commission of Pakistan in Dhaka, Dar would arrive in Dhaka at noon and leave Dhaka on Sunday.

Bangladesh and Pakistan are keen to explore deeper cooperation and collaboration in food security along with potential partnerships.

The bilateral cooperation issue came up when Pakistan’s Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, met with Bangladesh’s Adviser for Food, Ali Imam Majumdar, in Dhaka on Thursday to discuss avenues for strengthening collaboration in food security.

Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Imran Haider, was also present at the meeting.
Both sides expressed satisfaction over the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Rice Trade, signed in January 2025 between the Trading Corporation of Pakistan and Bangladesh’s Directorate General of Food.

Under the agreement, Pakistan has successfully delivered 50,000 metric tonnes of rice to Bangladesh.

Officials agreed that the MoU would serve as a gateway for regular exchanges of delegations at both government-to-government and business-to-business levels to boost trade in essential commodities.

The Pakistani Minister highlighted the upcoming 3rd International Food and Agricultural Exhibition (FoodAg), scheduled to be held in Karachi from November 25-27, 2025, as an opportunity for Bangladeshi businesses and officials to gain deeper insights into Pakistan’s agricultural sector and explore potential partnerships.

During the meeting, both leaders underscored the importance of enhancing crop yields through improved agricultural practices to meet the increasing demand for food commodities in their respective countries.

The discussions concluded with a shared commitment to expand existing cooperation through broader stakeholder engagement and joint initiatives aimed at ensuring long-term food security.
