The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Sunday submitted the charge sheet against Oishee Rahman and three others for their involvement in the murder of Special Branch (SB) Officer Mahfujur Rahman and his wife Swapna Rahman.
Besides Oishee, her friends Jony, Rony and housemaid Sumi were accused of conniving to kill Oishee’s parents in the charge sheet. DB Inspector Abu Al Khair, in charge of investigation of the case, submitted the charge sheet to the court.
Oishee’s parents Mahfuzur Rahman and Swapna Rahman were found stabbed to death in their apartment in Dhaka’s Chamelibagh on August 16, last year.
Oishee, the prime accused went missing and then surfaced mysteriously and surrendered to police. Police later arrested housemaid Khadiza Khatun Sumi and Oishee’s friends Mizanur Rahman Rony and Asaduzzaman Jony. Oishee along with her younger brother and Sumi left the house the day before the bodies were found there. She sent back her brother to the house the next day. Physicians at Dhaka Medical College confirmed Oishee was about 19 years old. Oishee and her two friends are now in jail custody while Sumi is being kept in a woman’s cell at Dhaka Central Jail-2 in Kashimpur. Police earlier said, Sumi was not directly involved with the murder, but she had helped Oishee.
Police confirmed Oishee’s involvement in the murder conducting DNA test on her ornaments and a blood-strained dress she left at the house. According to the Investigation Officer (IO), Oishee had mixed sleeping tablet to sedate her parents and then stabbed them to death. Oishee also made confessional statement to the court Under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure admitting her involvement in the murder of her parents.
On August 14 last year, police recovered decomposed bodies of the couple from their residence at Chamelibagh in the city.
