There will be no compromise with business syndicates, finance and commerce adviser Salehuddin Ahmed said on Wednesday.
“We have no agenda, neither political nor administrative. We have no attachment or aversion to anyone. We will not compromise with business syndicates,” the adviser told journalists after a meeting with businessmen at the Secretariat.
When asked about what discussions held with business leaders, Salehuddin mentioned that the businessmen did not make any unreasonable demands.
“They highlighted certain obstacles in business, particularly issues at ports, and sought cooperation in resolving these matters,” he said.
The adviser assured that these issues would be addressed.

In response to a question about difficulties in opening Letters of Credit (LCs), the adviser clarified that there has been no significant decrease in LC openings.
“Although some banks, including foreign ones, have been facing challenges, the Bangladesh Bank is actively working to address these issues.”
Regarding concerns about disruptions in essential goods imports due to the dollar crisis, the adviser said, “There are no shortages of essential items like fertilisers, pesticides, fuels, or food.
“The central bank is managing the situation effectively,” he added.
