City Desk :
Religious Affairs Adviser to the interim government Dr AFM Khalid Hossain on Tuesday said that the next general elections will be held in broad daylight.
“There will be no vote in the night in future and the election commission will do everything for holding a free, fair and neutral election,” he told a discussion at Nesarabad Kamil Madrasha here as chief guest, reports BSS.
Chaired by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Jhalokati Ashrafur Rahman, the function was addressed, among others, by Superintendent of Police (SP) Uzzwal Kumar Ray, Director General of the Islamic Foundation Maulana Shah Md Nesarul Haque, Amirul Muslihin Khalilur Rahman Nesarabadi, Assistant Professor of Chattogram University Dr Shahidul Haque and Principal of Nesarabad Madrasha Gazi Shahidul Islam.
“We have to be careful as no party or person can destroy the country by looting it after assuming the state power in future, Dr Khalid said, adding, “We should remember that the country is ours, it’s not a personal property of anybody and it has not been leased out to her or him.”
He said there will be a general election in the country after every five years and the people will vote as their choice. It’s not the duty of a patriot politician to kill the democracy by own hands after assuming power, he added.
He urged all to work unitedly for the development of the country and there must be a stable government for five years. A group of people is now in the state power, another party was in the power during the previous time and another party will come to the power in future, he added.
