Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hasan on Wednesday stressed that Hajj must be performed with honestly earned (halal) income, warning that pilgrimage performed with unlawful (haram) earnings will not be accepted.

“People tend to earn money through interest, bribery, and corruption. However, Hajj performed with unlawfully earned money will not be accepted,” said the adviser while inaugurating the Hajj Training 2025 programme at Osmani Memorial Hall in the capital.

Quoting a Hadith, Khalid said, “When corrupt individuals, looters, usurers, or bribers arrive at the Holy Haram [Kabah] to declare their arrival before Allah, the angels respond in unison, saying, ‘Your arrival has not been accepted.'” He urged all prospective pilgrims to earn their Hajj expenses through honest and lawful means.

Addressing the challenges of the pilgrimage, the adviser pointed out that Hajj requires both physical and mental endurance, as well as financial preparation. In some situations, pilgrims may have to walk long distances-such as to Meena, Arafah, and Muzdalifah-due to limited transportation facilities.

“Pilgrims must be mentally prepared to face these challenges and make sacrifices in their journey to seek the pleasure of Allah,” he said.

He also highlighted the importance of proper training, noting that attentiveness during the sessions would significantly ease the performance of Hajj rituals. He urged all pilgrims to participate actively and take the training seriously.
