No new port ruining Ctg Port

President of Chittagong City Awami League and former Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury said we expect new seaports in the country but not ruining the Chittagong Port .
He said a vested quarters now engaged in conspiracy to ruin the principal seaport of the country and the huge fund of the port is being misappropriated with different lame excuses and the people of Chittagong will resist it .
Mohiuddin Chowdhury disclosed it while addressing a meeting marking the 40th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman arranged by Bandar Karmachari Parishad(CBA) on Tuesday evening as Chief Guest at Bandar Republic Club hall .
Mentioning the conspiracy against Chittagong Port , he said following the construction of pillar bridge over Karnaphuli River the navigability of the ship movement gradually hampering and the mother vessels can’t enter in port channel .
He said if the Chittagong Port is ruined once, the fate of the country will be affected severely. He also mentioned that there are a numbers of corruptions, irregularities against port authority including misuse of fund in the name of equipment procurement etc.
He also asked the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to finalise the allegations so filed by the Anti corruption Commission against CPA .
The special guest on the occasion , General Secretary of Chitagong Press Club Mohsin Chowdhury said the existing Chittagong Port should be modernized with global standard and handling capacity to be increased further . CBA leader and noted freedom fighter Wahidullah Sarker presided over it.
Among others Shahidul Alam, Jahur Ahmed, Mahfuzur Rahman Khan, Kazi Mahbubul Hooque Chowdhury of Sramik League, AL leader MA Mannan spoke on the occasion, a release said.
