Two Shibir men beaten, one held

The activists of Chhatra League of Chittagong University Unit yesterday beat two activists of Shibir and handed them over to the police members of Hathazari thana.
The injured were identified as Arafat Chowdhury, a master’s student of Philosophy Department and Abul Kalam Azad, a third year student of Microbiology department.
Off whom Azad was rushed to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in critical condition.
Eyewitness and police sources said the duo was beaten while they were going to appear in class. Meanwhile, police arrested Maksudhur Rahman Ashique, another activist of Shibir and a Masters student of Soil Science department, who was accused in terrorism case.
Proctor, Ali Ajgor Chowdhury told the new nation that hearing the incident we directed the police men to take action.
Mohammad Ismail, Officer- In- Charge of Hathazari thana told this correspondent that we held Ashique as he was an indicted person in a case, adding that Arafat Chowdhury was got free in consideration of mental disabled.
