Purnima ready to ditch her romantic image
Dhallywood actress Dilara Hanif Purnima, widely known for her romantic roles on screen, is now looking to break away from her glamorous image and take on negative characters.
Despite delivering numerous audience favourites and commercially successful films over her nearly 28-year acting career, Purnima is eager to explore a new side of her acting abilities by portraying challenging and unconventional roles.
Recently, the actress spoke about her aspirations and plans for this new phase of her career.
She said she appreciates how actresses in contemporary films and OTT productions are embracing negative and unconventional characters. She, too, is looking for a similarly challenging role.
“By a negative character, I don’t mean the conventional kind of villainous role we usually associate with the term here.
I want a character with a backstory, one around whom the entire narrative revolves. I’m interested in doing something like that.
These days, many actresses are appearing in films and OTT productions with negative or unconventional roles.
I want to move beyond the image of a beautiful heroine and the polished, glamorous persona associated with me.
I want to play a negative character in a project that leaves a lasting impression on the audience. However, I haven’t received any such offers yet,” Purnima said.
