Abrar Fahad’s family meets PM

The family members of Abrar Fahad-a student of the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) who was killed by members of the banned organization Chhatra League-met with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Thursday.
Abrar Fahad’s father Md. Barkat Ullah, mother Rokeya Khatun, younger brother Abrar Faiyaz, and two uncles (one maternal and one paternal) met the Prime Minister at his office in the Cabinet Division of the Secretariat in the afternoon. During the meeting, the Prime Minister spoke with the family members and inquired about their well-being.
During the meeting, Abrar Fahad’s father sought the Prime Minister’s cooperation in expediting the judicial process and ensuring the execution of the verdict in his son’s murder case.
In response, the Prime Minister stated that the case is currently pending before the High Court. He noted that the court would independently complete the judicial proceedings and assured the family that the government would provide all necessary support.
Abrar’s father also requested the Prime Minister to construct a bridge over the Gorai River in Kushtia. He mentioned that approximately 40,000 to 50,000 people in the area currently cross the river using a makeshift bamboo bridge.
The Prime Minister assured him that the bridge would be built and promised to name it after Abrar Fahad.
Additionally, he sought the Prime Minister’s assistance in paving Abrar Fahad’s grave and completing the construction of the adjacent mosque.
The Prime Minister directed that the construction of the mosque be completed immediately.
During the meeting, Abrar’s father also raised the issue of the fugitive accused in his son’s murder case with the Prime Minister.
He informed him that the family was notified about the escape of one of the accused from Kashimpur High-Security Central Jail only about six months after the incident occurred.
He demanded that the accused that had escaped from prison and remained at large be brought to justice swiftly.
