NU signs MoU with AQA Global to modernise examination system

National University (NU) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UK-based AQA Global to modernise its examination and assessment system through greater use of technology.

The initiative aims to digitalise various stages of examination management, improve the accuracy and efficiency of assessment and introduce internationally recognised assessment practices.

The MoU was signed at the conference room of the Vice-Chancellor’s office on the NU campus in Gazipur, according to a press release.

Under the agreement, different stages of the university’s examination administration and assessment system will be reviewed and modernised where necessary. The initiative will focus on increasing the use of technology while ensuring transparency, accuracy, efficiency and accountability in examination management.

NU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ASM Amanullah said the university has a large number of students, making it essential to maximise the use of technology in examination and assessment activities.

“To conduct examinations and assessment activities on such a large scale, we must ensure the maximum use of technology alongside the existing methods,” he said. He said the university wanted the entire examination process to become faster, more accurate and more transparent while using technology to reduce the scope for human error.

“This is not merely an agreement; it is an important step towards making National University’s examination and assessment system ready for the future,” he added.

AQA Global Director of International Business Sean Crowley said the organisation was pleased to have the opportunity to work with National University.

“We want to apply our international experience to modernizing the examination and assessment system of such a large higher education institution,” he said.

NU Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammad Ali Jinnah, Treasurer Prof Dr Md Nazmul Hossain, Registrar Molla Mahfuz Al-Hossain, AQA Global Country Director for Bangladesh and Nepal Shaheen Reza, among others, attended the event.
