370 juvenile gang members detained in Chandpur

370 members of juvenile gang were detained during separate drives conducted across eight upazilas of Chandpur district from late Sunday afternoon until midnight to ensure public safety and improve the law and order situation.

The drives were launched suddenly following directives from the DIG of Chattogram Range, said SP Md Mizanur Rahman. He said the initiative was taken to combat juvenile delinquency and rising gang-related crimes, as some youths are being lured into committing various social crimes.

Additional SP Nadira Noor said, “We are scrutinising the list of the detained juvenile boys.

Many are blacklisted due to their involvement in crimes, while many others are not.

Those who are not guilty will be handed over to their guardians after they give an undertaking that they will keep a close watch on their sons and their movements so that they do not become involved in social crimes.”

The drives were conducted in all eight upazilas from late afternoon until midnight on Sunday. During the operation, a total of 370 juvenile boys were detained across the district.
