Nation observed Lailatul-Qadr with prayers and devotion

THE nation observed LAILATUL-QADR last night with solemnity and prayers and the Muslim will also pass the entire day today in devotion along with fasting. We seek blessings and mercy of Allah on this occasion. Shab-e-Qadr is the anniversary of two very important dates in Islam in the month of Ramzan. It is the anniversaries of the night Muslims believe the first verses of the Holy Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (Sm). The saying is that it was revealed in any day during the last 10 days of the Ramzan having the most possibility on 23rd or 25th while the highest anticipation is on 27th of Ramzan. Muslims therefore observe this night in prayers and devotion.
Muslims believe that Lailatul-Qadr is the best of the nights as the revelation of the Quran occurred in two phases on this occasion with the first phase being reveled in its entirety to the angel Gabriel (Jibril in Arabic) in the lowest heaven and then the subsequent verse-by-verse revelation to the prophet by Gabriel over 23 years. The revelation started in 610 CE in the Hera cave on Mount Nur in Mecca. It started with ‘read in the name of your Allah” thus made not only learning the Holy Quran compulsory but also education compulsory to all Muslims. Islam teaches us to be educated and enlightened and the obligation descends on the Muslims before any other one else.
Muslims often offer extra prayers on this night and the next day. They awake and pray for them and the family including the salvation of the deceased and hope Allah will give them peace, prosperity and happiness over the rest of the life. People stay at mosque or indoor and pray and many stay the last 10 days in mosque performing ‘Itikaf’ to siege the moment of revelation of the Holy Quran in prayers.
As per the Quran (Sura Qadr) during Lailatul-Qadr Angels of Allah and Jibreel descend on the earth with blessings on this night and people keep on praying for their good destiny. In fact the entire month of Ramzan is the month of devotion to Allah and secures His blessings by way of fasting, prayers and remaining away from evils. The last ten days capped by the revelation of Holy Quran thus bears special significance to the Muslims. We pray for peace and happiness of the nation and safety of the people on this auspicious night. May Allah grace us with His bountiful blessings.
