2 AIUB founders take top board positions

The Board of Trustees of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) has a new leadership team, with two of the university’s founding members taking its top two positions The change was finalised at the board’s 202nd meeting on September 9, where Hasanul A Hasan was made chairman and Ishtiaq Abedin vice-chairman.

Hasanul A Hasan brings extensive business experience to the position. He currently leads Kemlub Ltd, the sole distributor of Mac lubricants in Bangladesh, as chairman and also chairs Subaru Bangladesh Ltd. He is the managing director of American Dairy Ltd (ADL).

Ishtiaq Abedin has a role in the country’s private higher education sector as secretary general of the Association of Private Universities of Bangladesh (APUB).

His business responsibilities include chairing American Dairy Ltd and serving as managing director of Kemlub Ltd, Sanzaib Ltd and Sanzaib Food and Beverage Ltd.

The latest move gives the university’s founding members a leading role in the body responsible for overseeing AIUB.
