Khulshi OC among 8 sued over alleged looting

A case has been filed against eight people, including Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khulshi Police Station Mohammad Abdur Rahim, on charges of allegedly entering a house, attacking and vandalising it, looting valuables and threatening to kill the house owner.

Md Javed, 66, filed the case on Sunday with the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Mahidul Islam in Chattogram. He is the father of Wakil Hossain alias Bihari Boga.

The Khulshi police OC has been made the prime accused in the case. The other accused include Sub-Inspectors (unarmed) Md Shah Paran and Md Anwar Hossain of Khulshi Police Station.

Advocate SM Monirul Islam, counsel for the plaintiff, confirmed the matter.
The court ordered the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Metro to investigate the allegations.

According to the case statement, several people entered Javed’s house in the early hours of September 4 allegedly on the instructions of OC Abdur Rahim and with the involvement of the two SIs.

They allegedly attacked the house, vandalised property and looted valuables. They also threatened Javed with death, the complaint said.

The plaintiff claimed that property and valuables worth around Tk 17 lakh were damaged or looted during the incident.

Meanwhile, a case was filed at Khulshi Police Station on 29 August over the alleged abduction and assault of a teacher of Pahartali College in the port city. Wakil Hossain alias Bihari Boga was named as an accused in that case.

Police launched an operation to arrest Wakil at around 4:30am on September 4. According to police, his followers tried to obstruct the law enforcers by putting up barricades on the road during the operation.
At one stage, they allegedly attacked police and vandalised a government vehicle.

Police subsequently filed another case against 21 named individuals and 250 unidentified people for allegedly attacking police, vandalising a government vehicle and injuring a police member.
