Staff Reporter :The Detective Branch of Police picked up 10 people, including three fake DB members, from different parts of the capital on Sunday night.Police also seized two private cars, handcuffs, a pistol, three bullets and a number of firearms from their possessions.Joint Commissioner (DB Media) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Monirul Islam disclosed the information in a press briefing on Monday.The DB joint commissioner said: “A DB patrol team arrested three fake DB persons from the capital’s Elephant Road area around 10:30pm on Sunday when they were trying to snatch Tk 20 lakh from three businessmen. They used to impersonate themselves as DB members.”The arrested men have been identified as Abu Bakar Siddique, Abul Hossain and Sharif Hossain.Another DB team picked up two persons from the capital’s Uttara area at 8pm. Their names are: Toufiqul Islam and Alam Bhandari. They allegedly shot a student in the capital’s Tejgaon area and lifted his car the same day.In another drive, DB Police nabbed five suspected robbers from in front of the capital’s Holy Family Hospital at 10:30pm when they were preparing for robbery.Separate cases have been filed in these connections and the accused would be handed over to police, said the DB official.
