Tigers-Aussies 2nd Test kicks-off today

The second Test match between Bangladesh Cricket team and Australia Cricket will kick-off today at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay. The game will start at 6.00am (Bangladesh Standard Time).

Captain of the Tigers Najmul Hossain Shanto will lead his side, while Captain of the Aussies Pat Cummins will lead his team.

Bangladesh have a 1-0 lead as the Tigers defeated the Aussies by nine wickets in the first Test at the Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin on August 16.

Naturally, Bangladesh Cricket team’s confidence is high after such a victory. Bangladesh Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto also said the same frankly.

At the pre-match press conference on Friday, Shanto said, “Such a victory will definitely give us confidence. The players have come back well from there in two days of practice. They have adapted well.”

However, the Bangladesh Captain Shanto sees scope for improvement in the team, his expectations for his teammates, “There is always opportunity for improvement. I think we played very good cricket in that match.

No one missed catches intentionally, I think it was part of the game. We played a lot of good cricket in that match.

Of course, there is space for small improvements, we have discussed these. Hopefully we can play another good match.”

Shanto feels that Australia deserves more games in the conditions, ‘Of course we should play (more here).

I think if we don’t play, we won’t improve ourselves or show how capable we are in world cricket.

By winning the last match, we were able to give this positive message. We believe that the team we have are capable of playing in any condition.

We played well in the match and we won, now it is important how we can do well in the upcoming match.”

Expectations have increased for everyone after the first Test win, Shanto also gave a message to the audience, ‘I always believe in one thing, it is always good to have expectations.

One positive aspect of the audience is that whether we lose or win, they always support us, they come to the field. That will be the hope. we hope we will see the game in tomorrow’s match.

Those who have the opportunity to come to the field will come. We will try to play our best game.”

The Tigers Captain’s thoughts on Australia seeking to turn around to save the series, “I don’t want to think that far ahead.

We have said from the beginning that we want to play good cricket. We want to play good cricket for five days here too.

So it is important that how well we play cricket each day, each session, that will be the target.

If the process is right, if we can play well session by session, the results will come that way.

If we think about the results in advance, I think it will be a lot of challenges and a lot of difficulties for us. I believe that playing good cricket is important for us.”
