Nurul as President, Pallab as secretary, and Wadud as organizing secretary
A new literary and cultural organization named ‘Abhibyakti’ was recently launched at the National Press Club. The organization’s primary objective is to foster the development of Bangladeshi literature, culture, and creativity while upholding the spirit of the Liberation War and the July Revolution.
A meeting held on this occasion featured discussions on the organization’s activities, objectives, and future plans. At the conclusion of the meeting, a committee for ‘Abhibyakti’ was announced, comprising writers, cultural figures, and organizers from diverse backgrounds. Renowned journalist, politician, and poet Rita Rahman serves as the Chief Advisor of the committee, while politician Syed Belayet Hossain Belal has been appointed as an advisor.
In the meeting, senior journalist Nurul Islam Khokon was unanimously appointed as President-Coordinator, senior journalist Pallab Mahmud as General Secretary, and Mohammad Abdul Wadud, Assignment Editor of The New Nation, as Organizing Secretary.
Senior journalist and activist Bashirul Haque Sinha was appointed Senior Vice-President, while Major (Retd.) Zaman and senior journalist Jamal Uddin Bari were assigned the roles of Vice-Presidents.
Cultural activist Tanvir Ahmed Tamal has been elected as the Joint Secretary; journalist and poet Anjuman Ara Shilpi as Treasurer; musician, lyricist, and poet Shampi Zaman as Cultural Secretary; poet and short-story writer Farhana Tania as Literary Secretary; poet Talukdar Lovely as Publicity and Publication Secretary; musician, poet, and lawyer Shimul Parvin as Legal Affairs Secretary; journalist and poet Taskina Yasmin Emi as Office Secretary; and child scientist Mehzabin Mousi as International Affairs Secretary.
The committee includes senior journalist and poet Alam Masud; Momtaz Begum (mother of July martyr Shahriar Matin); Dr. Habibur Rahman Khan; cultural activist Armin Chowdhury Kobita; poets Nasrin Nahar Akhi, Shahidul Islam, Iqbal, Shahin Khan, Tarik, Azad, Shahriar, Hasib Khan, and Habib; vocalist Ilora Soma; and vocalist Farzana Diba.
Alongside fostering indigenous literature and culture, ‘Abhibyakti’ will organize regular literary gatherings, cultural events, discussions, publications, and various creative programs to cultivate creativity, patriotism, humanitarian values, and free thinking among the new generation.
A key aspiration of the organization is to nurture new creative trends that align with the times—while upholding Bangladesh’s rich literary and cultural heritage—and to strengthen positive cultural practices within society.
