Parvez Ahmed: Two Decades of Leadership as a Bangladeshi Businessman in Bangladesh’s Printing Industry

In Bangladesh’s printing industry, Parvez Ahmed has built a long-standing entrepreneurial career through determination, perseverance, and a commitment to the sector. Entering the printing business at the age of 22, he gradually established himself by navigating competition, changing market demands, and various business challenges.

In 2005, he established Ekushey Printers, and in 2008, he established Nurul Islam Printing Press. He currently serves as Chairman of Nurul Islam Printing Press and Founder and Former Chairman of Ekushey Printers.

Beyond his own businesses, Parvez Ahmed is also involved with several industry and professional organizations. He serves as Joint Secretary of the Printing Industries Association of Bangladesh (BMSS), Joint Member Secretary of the Dhaka South Press Owners Association, and an Active Contributor to the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

His involvement extends across business, the printing industry, employment generation, education-related textbook production, and social welfare.

A Family Background Rooted in Entrepreneurship

Parvez Ahmed was born on 5 December 1980 in Dhaka, Bangladesh, with ancestral roots in Barishal. He is the son of Mr. Anwar Hossain Hawlader and Mrs. Manowara Begum.

Parvez Ahmed is one of five siblings—four brothers and one sister—who come from a family with a strong entrepreneurial background. The eldest among the siblings is Mrs. Reba Begum, followed by Mr. Salauddin Hawlader, Mr. Parvez Ahmed, Mr. Shahabuddin Shihab, and Mr. Jashim Uddin. All four brothers are engaged in business and entrepreneurial activities, reflecting the family’s longstanding involvement in the business sector.

Parvez Ahmed is married to Mrs. Shila Ahmed, who is also actively involved in the family’s business activities. In 2023, Mrs. Shila Ahmed became the Chairman of Ekushey Printers and has since been leading the organization successfully.

Together, Parvez Ahmed and Mrs. Shila Ahmed have three children: Ritaz Ahmed Prince, Tajrin Ahmed Tisha, and Tawhid Ahmed Mon. All three children are students of British Standard School.

Entering the Printing Industry at the Age of 22

Parvez Ahmed entered the printing business when he was only 22 years old. From the beginning, he chose to work in a highly competitive sector where maintaining quality, meeting deadlines, managing production, understanding customer requirements, and adapting to changing market conditions are essential.

Over the years, he faced numerous challenges and intense competition. Rather than allowing those challenges to slow his progress, he continued to develop his experience and expand his business activities.

His entrepreneurial journey has now extended for more than two decades. The establishment of Ekushey Printers in 2005 and Nurul Islam Printing Press in 2008 became two important milestones in his professional career.

Ekushey Printers: The Beginning of a Larger Journey

One of the major milestones in Parvez Ahmed’s entrepreneurial journey came in 2005, when he established Ekushey Printers. At the time of its establishment, he served as Chairman, Managing Director, and CEO of the organization.

Ekushey Printers was established to provide a wide range of books and printing-related services. From its early years, the organization focused on book supply and printing activities.

The establishment of Ekushey Printers strengthened Parvez Ahmed’s position in the printing industry and provided an important foundation for his later expansion into government textbook printing and supply.

Today, Mrs. Shila Ahmed serves as the Chairman of Ekushey Printers. She became formally involved in the business in 2023 and has since been leading the organization successfully.

While Parvez Ahmed has taken on broader responsibilities within the printing industry and continues to serve as Chairman of Nurul Islam Printing Press, Mrs. Shila Ahmed has taken responsibility for leading Ekushey Printers.

Together, they continue to operate their respective businesses while navigating the competition and changing demands of Bangladesh’s printing industry.

Nurul Islam Printing Press

In 2008, Parvez Ahmed established Nurul Islam Printing Press with a specific focus on participating in government textbook tenders and supplying textbooks.

The establishment of Nurul Islam Printing Press became another significant milestone in his professional journey. Over time, the organization developed into a large-scale printing facility and currently provides employment opportunities to more than 100 people.

The company primarily focuses on government textbook printing and supply. Through participation in government textbook tenders and its printing capabilities, Nurul Islam Printing Press contributes to the production and supply of textbooks for Bangladesh’s education sector.

NCTB conducts an annual budget and procurement process for textbooks. Through participation in the relevant tender process and subsequent printing and supply of books, Nurul Islam Printing Press contributes to this important education-related process.

The organization is one of the two major facilities associated with Parvez Ahmed’s business activities, alongside Ekushey Printers.

Contribution to NCTB and the Education Sector

An important part of Parvez Ahmed’s professional involvement is his connection with the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).

Through his involvement in textbook printing and supply under NCTB’s annual procurement and tender process, Parvez Ahmed has contributed to the quality of textbook printing and the timely production and delivery of textbooks, supporting the country’s education sector.

His involvement in this area includes a focus on printing quality, production capacity, and timely delivery. Through participation in the textbook procurement and tender process, his organization contributes to the production and supply of textbooks required for students across Bangladesh.

His work in textbook printing has therefore allowed him to contribute not only as an entrepreneur but also to an area directly connected with the country’s education system.

Leadership in the Printing Industry

Parvez Ahmed’s contribution extends beyond his own businesses. He serves as Joint Secretary of the Printing Industries Association of Bangladesh (BMSS), where he is involved in representing the interests of printing-industry entrepreneurs and supporting the development of the sector.

His responsibilities and areas of involvement include:

Representing the interests of printing-industry owners.

Increasing communication and cooperation among different printing companies.

Discussing and coordinating printing-industry matters with the government and relevant ministries.

Supporting members in government printing tenders and publishing processes.

Protecting the rights and business interests of industry members.

Assisting in resolving disputes among members through communication and mediation.

Working toward the development and expansion of Bangladesh’s printing industry.

Supporting industry-development initiatives such as printing industrial estate-related initiatives.

Through these activities, Parvez Ahmed contributes to strengthening communication among industry stakeholders and promoting the collective interests of printing businesses.

Dhaka South Press Owners Association

Parvez Ahmed is also involved with the Dhaka South Press Owners Association, where he serves as Joint Member Secretary.

The organization works around the printing and business community of Dhaka South. Through his involvement, Parvez Ahmed contributes to communication, cooperation, and the collective interests of press owners and printing-business stakeholders.

His contribution to the printing community has also received recognition. In 2025, he received a commemorative Recognition Plaque from the Dhaka South Press Owners Association in appreciation of his contribution to its event.

A Career Built Through Competition and Challenges

Since entering the printing business at the age of 22, Parvez Ahmed has experienced the challenges of working in a highly competitive industry.

The printing sector requires continuous attention to quality, production capacity, technology, cost efficiency, customer requirements, and timely delivery. Throughout his career, he has worked to overcome these challenges and strengthen his business operations.

From establishing Ekushey Printers in 2005 to establishing Nurul Islam Printing Press in 2008, his journey demonstrates the gradual expansion of his entrepreneurial activities.

Today, his businesses provide employment opportunities to more than 100 people, while his broader professional activities connect him with different segments of Bangladesh’s printing industry.

Social Work and Community Service

Parvez Ahmed’s activities are not limited to business and the printing industry. He has also been actively engaged in social welfare and community development initiatives in Barishal and other communities.

He regularly extends financial and humanitarian assistance to underprivileged and disadvantaged individuals. He has also contributed to the construction and development of local mosques.

Through his business ventures, he has played a role in creating employment opportunities for people in Dhaka and Narayanganj.

His large-scale manufacturing facility in Narayanganj provides employment opportunities to numerous individuals, enabling them to earn a livelihood and support their families.

Through his continued commitment to community welfare, employment generation, and support for people in need, Parvez Ahmed has contributed to the social and economic well-being of communities around him.

Employee Welfare

Employee welfare is also an important part of Parvez Ahmed’s business approach.

Through employment opportunities and a positive and supportive workplace environment, his businesses seek to support the well-being, professional development, livelihood, and economic security of employees.

With more than 100 employees working within his business operations, his enterprises contribute directly to employment generation while also supporting the families and communities connected to those employees.

The Role of Mrs. Shila Ahmed

Mrs. Shila Ahmed has become an important part of the family’s entrepreneurial journey.

She formally became involved in the business in 2023, when she assumed the position of Chairman of Ekushey Printers.

While Parvez Ahmed continues to serve as Chairman of Nurul Islam Printing Press and takes on leadership responsibilities within the Printing Industries Association of Bangladesh and the Dhaka South Press Owners Association, Mrs. Shila Ahmed leads Ekushey Printers.

Their complementary leadership allows the two businesses to continue operating successfully while both entrepreneurs face the competition and evolving demands of Bangladesh’s printing industry.

Their journey together demonstrates how a family business can develop through shared responsibilities, mutual support, and long-term commitment.

Future Vision: Building a Modern and Globally Competitive Printing Industry

Parvez Ahmed’s vision is to contribute to the transformation of Bangladesh’s printing industry into a globally competitive, modern, and internationally recognized sector.

His future vision focuses on adopting advanced printing technologies, maintaining international standards of quality and efficiency, and creating greater employment opportunities for the younger generation.

He aims to invest in high-quality and advanced printing machinery, expand the number of machines and production capabilities, and increase the workforce to create more employment opportunities.

He also envisions expanding and modernizing his factory facilities by increasing the number of factory units and strengthening overall production infrastructure.

A further important part of his future vision is to contribute to ensuring the consistent production and supply of high-quality textbooks in Bangladesh. Through modern printing infrastructure, advanced machinery, and reliable production capabilities, he aims to support the country’s education sector.

His vision extends beyond the growth of individual businesses. He aims to contribute to the modernization of the wider printing industry and help create a stronger, more technologically advanced, and internationally competitive printing sector in Bangladesh.

More Than Two Decades of Experience, with New Goals Ahead

From entering the printing sector at the age of 22 to becoming the Chairman of Nurul Islam Printing Press, Founder and Former Chairman of Ekushey Printers, Joint Secretary of the Printing Industries Association of Bangladesh (BMSS), Joint Member Secretary of the Dhaka South Press Owners Association, and an Active Contributor to NCTB, Parvez Ahmed’s journey reflects determination, resilience, and a long-term commitment to entrepreneurship.

His story is one of continuous development. Beginning with his involvement in the printing sector, he gradually established businesses, expanded production capabilities, created employment opportunities, became involved with industry organizations, and contributed to textbook production for the country’s education sector.

His professional journey is not defined only by the growth of his own enterprises. His involvement in the printing industry, NCTB-related textbook production, industry associations, employment generation, and community welfare reflects a broader commitment to contributing to society.

Today, Parvez Ahmed continues to work toward strengthening his businesses, supporting his employees, contributing to Bangladesh’s printing industry, and helping communities in need.

With a vision centered on technology, quality, education, employment, and industrial development, Parvez Ahmed aspires to contribute to a stronger and more modern printing industry in Bangladesh.

His continuing journey represents the ambition of an entrepreneur who seeks not only to build successful businesses but also to create opportunities for people and contribute to the country’s broader social and economic progress.
