The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detains 512 people and files 48 cases in 24 hours as part of regular operations across the capital, recovering a large quantity of drugs and other evidence.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) detains 512 people in its regular operations across the capital over the past 24 hours, with police also recovering more than 16,000 yaba tablets and other drugs.
The operations result in 48 cases, according to Niaz Mehedi, additional deputy commissioner of the DMP’s Media and Public Relations Division, who provides the information on Friday.
The detainees include 39 from Ramna Division, 40 from Lalbagh, 70 from Wari, 71 from Motijheel, 47 from Tejgaon, 116 from Mirpur, 56 from Gulshan, 56 from Uttara and 17 from the Detective Branch (DB).
Police recover 1 kilogram and 204 grams of cannabis, 16,333 yaba tablets, 50 bottles of Eskaf syrup and 4 grams of heroin during the operations.
Five motorcycles and Tk15,400 in cash are also recovered.
The DMP says the arrests and recoveries are made during operations conducted in various police station areas across the capital.
Legal proceedings against the detained individuals are underway, police say.
