Popy after 3 decades
Sadika Parvin Popy is a renowned and popular actress in Bangladeshi cinema. Although she has not been acting in movies for the past few years. But she still has millions of fans at home and abroad.
Popy is now at the top of the list of Bangladeshi heroines in terms of what is meant by a glamorous and beautiful heroine in Bangladeshi cinema.

Journey of Popy, who hailed from Khulna, in the media began in 1995, when she became the champion of the ‘Lux-Anand Bichitra Photo Beauty’ contest.
Then she acted for the first time opposite film star Ilias Kanchan in the package drama titled ‘Nayok’ directed by late Shahidul Haque Khan.
Then Popy first started working in late renowned director Sohanur Rahman Sohan’s film ‘Amar Ghor Amar Behest’ opposite film actor Shakil Khan.
However, before this, Popy-starred and Montazur Rahman Akbar directed movie ‘Coolie’ was released on May 16, 1997.
That’s why Popy’s first released movie is named ‘Coolie’. Popy’s second released film, ‘Dorodi Sontan’, opposite Ilias Kanchan, was released on June 20 of that year, under Shawkat Jamil’s direction.
The film ‘Amar Ghor Amar Behest’ was released on November 3, 1997, as Poppy’s third film.
In 1998, Popy-starred and Mustafizur Rahman Babu directed ‘Ei Mon Tomeke Dilam’, Motaleb Hossain directed ‘Bhalobashar Ghor’ and several other films were released. After that, Popy never looked back.
The commercially successful and notable films released starring Popy are: ‘Charidike Shotru’, ‘ Bidroho Charidike’, ‘Ke Amar Baba’, ‘Lal Badshah’, ‘Dujon Dujonar’, ‘Praner Priyotoma’, ‘Khyapa Basu’, ‘Bidrohi Padma’, ‘Rani Kuthir Baki Itihash’, ‘Megher Koley Rod’, ‘Karagar’, ‘Ki Jadu Korila’, ‘Gangajatra’, ‘Bostir Rani Suriya’, etc. Regarding her film career, Popy told this correspondent, “In my long career in film, I have earned the love of millions of movie-loving viewers in this country.
I have been blessed with the affection and love of senior artists while working in films. Besides, the entire film family loved me.
Everything I am today’s Popy is from movies, from the love of the audience. That is why I will always have immense respect and love for the cinema of this country.”
Popy won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in ‘Karagar,’ directed by Kalam Kaiser. She was later honoured with the same award again for acting in films ‘Megher Koley Rod’ and ‘Gangajatra’.
Popy has also received awards for excellence from various events, including BACHSAS, BABISAS, TRAB Awards, and more.
Popy married Adnan, a well-established businessman in the country, a few years ago. Their only son is Aayat. For now, Popy is living a happy life with her family.
