Shimu wins gold in President’s Challenge Cup Archery

Bangladesh’s archer Shima Akhter Shimu won the gold medal in the recurve mixed team event of the President’s Challenge Cup Archery by showing great skill at the Archery Training Academy in Tongi of Gazipur on Sunday.

The ‘Azalia’ team, formed by Shimu and Malaysia’s Mohammad Danish, secured the championship title by defeating the ‘Bluebell’ team 6-0 sets.

In the bronze-medal match of the same event, the ‘Primrose’ team defeated the ‘Dahlia’ team to secure the third place.

Bangladesh Archery Federation has arranged the archery competition and training programme. A total 17 countries took part in the competitions.

They are: Hosts Bangladesh, Bhutan, Afghanistan, China, India, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Nepal, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan and Yemen.
