SURECS holds tree plantation drive in Khulna

A tree plantation programme was held at the Khulna Zila Parishad premises on Thursday as part of a monsoon initiative by the Sundarban Regiment Ex-Cadet Society (SURECS) to promote environmental conservation and expand green cover.

Khulna Zila Parishad Administrator SM Monirul Hasan Bappi inaugurated the programme by planting a bokul sapling.

Speaking at the event, Bappi described the initiative as timely, saying tree plantation is one of the most effective ways to protect both human life and the environment. He said trees are the primary source of oxygen and play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance.

He also stressed that tree plantation should not remain merely a symbolic activity but should be embraced as a social responsibility to ensure a cleaner, healthier and more livable environment for future generations.
