BD’s mango diplomacy sweetens Maldives ties

Bangladesh has presented premium-quality seasonal mangoes to the Maldives government as a goodwill gesture, reaffirming the longstanding friendly and brotherly relations between the two countries while marking the island nation’s 61st Independence Day.

The Bangladesh government has extended a diplomatic gesture of friendship by presenting premium-quality fresh seasonal mangoes to the Maldives government.

According to a press release issued by the Bangladesh High Commission in the Maldives on Thursday, the initiative was taken to celebrate the 61st Independence Day of the Republic of Maldives and commemorate the recent official visit of Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman, who attended the national celebrations.

The mangoes were formally handed over through the Bangladesh High Commission in the Maldives. On behalf of the Bangladesh government, Bangladesh High Commissioner to the Maldives Dr Md Nazmul Islam presented the goodwill gift to Deputy Chief of Protocol of the Maldives Ministry of Foreign Affairs Badoora Saeed.

The High Commission said the presentation of Bangladesh’s premium-quality seasonal mangoes symbolises the close friendship, mutual respect and enduring diplomatic relationship shared by the two countries.

Bangladesh and the Maldives maintain longstanding bilateral relations, with regular exchanges and cooperation in various sectors. The mango gift forms part of the traditional diplomatic goodwill extended by Bangladesh to friendly nations on significant national occasions while reinforcing ties between the two countries.
