Ctg ‘top criminal’ David Emon nabbed in Jashore

Police have arrested Mobarak Hossain Emon, also known as David Emon, an alleged top criminal in Chattogram, along with five associates in Jashore on Wednesday morning.

Chattogram District Police Superintendent (SP) Masud Alam confirmed the arrest, saying the group included individuals involved in armed activities.

“Top terror Emon was detained along with his other five associates. All of them are shooters,” the SP said.

Police said Emon is a close associate of Sajjad Ali, alias Boro Sajjad, an alleged criminal who is currently absconding abroad. According to police records, Emon faces at least seven cases, including charges related to murder, extortion and intimidation.

Police said Emon was accused in the double murder case in Chattogram’s Bakalia area on 30 March last year and the murder of alleged criminal Dhakaiya Akbar at Patenga Sea Beach on 23 May of the same year.

According to police, Emon was involved in managing operations of Boro Sajjad’s alleged criminal network in Chattogram after the arrest of Sajjad Hossain, alias Chhoto Sajjad.

Police claimed that Emon had access to firearms and was involved in recruiting shooters and arranging motorcycles allegedly used in criminal activities.

The police further claimed that Boro Sajjad’s network has around 50 shooters and associates operating in Chattogram, and that Emon and Mohammad Raihan were involved in demanding extortion money on behalf of the group.

The arrested individuals are being taken for further legal proceedings, police said.
