Rana Taskin off to Australia

Two Bangladeshi pacers Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed left the city for Australia on Tuesday night.

Taskin will later join the Bangladesh Cricket team, which will leave for Australia on July 31 to play two-match Test series against Australia Cricket team.

On the other hand, Nahid Rana, who was ruled out of the Australia series due to injury, will return home after receiving treatment and will begin the rehabilitation process.

In-charge of Cricket Operations Committee of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Shahriar Nafees said the main purpose of Rana’s visit is not to undergo tests on his ‘side strain’ (ankle muscle injury). Rana will discuss with doctors about his long-standing shinbone problem.

Shahriar Nafees told reporters on Tuesday, “He is being sent to Australia for evaluation. The side strain problem will heal naturally. However, the problem that has been going on for a long time will be shown to the doctors.”

Shahriar Nafees said, “There was a plan from before. We were supposed to check if there was any problem with our pace bowlers or others. This time, that plan is being implemented.”

Meanwhile, left-arm pacer Shoriful Islam has made good progress in recovering from the hamstring injury when he suffered during the Zimbabwe tour.

Shoriful’s fitness test is scheduled for August 12. The BCB officials hopes that Shoriful will be able to join the team before the second Test against Australia. He has already been ruled out of the first Test.

This two-match Test series is part of the fourth cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.

Bangladesh and Australia will play the first Test at the Marara Cricket Ground in Darwin from August 13 to August 17. The two teams will then play the second and final Test of the series in Mackay from August 22 to August 26.
