78 recovered mobile phones returned to owners

The Cyber Crime Cell of the 2nd Armed Police Battalion (APBN), based in Muktagacha, Mymensingh, handed over 78 recovered lost mobile phones and Tk 25,000 retrieved from online financial fraud to their rightful owners.

The estimated market value of the recovered mobile phones is Tk 2.73 million.The handover ceremony was held at the 2 APBN headquarters on Tuesday where the Commanding Officer of APBN, Additional Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Md. Al Mamun, formally returned the recovered mobile phones and money to their respective owners.

According to a press release, the Cyber Crime Cell of 2 APBN recovered the 78 lost mobile phones from different parts of the country using information technology, based on complaints received through social media, e-mail, and General Diaries (GDs) filed at various police stations.

In addition, the unit successfully recovered Tk 25,000 that had been lost through online financial fraud. The ceremony was attended by the Superintendent of Police (Deputy Commanding Officer), Additional Superintendent of Police, Assistant Superintendent of Police, other officials of 2 APBN, and members of the Cyber Crime Cell.
