Remittance hits $2.52b in first 27 days of July

Bangladesh received US$2.524 billion in remittances from expatriate workers during the first 27 days of July, the opening month of the 2026-27 fiscal year, registering a 20.2 per cent year-on-year growth.

Latest data released by the Bangladesh Bank showed that inward remittances reached US$2.524 billion during the period from July 1 to July 27, compared with US$2.099 billion received during the corresponding period of July last year.

Central bank figures showed that Bangladeshi expatriates living in different countries sent home $87 million on Monday alone.

Bangladesh received a record $35.56 billion in remittances in FY26, the highest remittance earnings so far in a single fiscal year.

The year-on-year growth was a 17.3 percent increase compared to $30.33 billion in FY25.

The continued robust momentum in the remittance inflow through formal banking channels at the start of the new fiscal year is expected to bolster the country’s foreign exchange reserves and help maintain macroeconomic stability.
