Bhairab man killed in villagers clash
A man was killed, and at least 20 people were injured in a clash between two villagers over the naming of Bhairab upazila in Kishoreganj.
The clash took place on Monday between the residents of Akbarnagar and Mirachar villages under Kalikaprasad Union of Bhairab upazila.
The injured are receiving treatment at Bhairab 100 – bedded Hospital and private clinics. Received on information, Police including RAB reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
According to local sources, there has been a dispute for 30 years between the villagers of Akbarnagar and Mirachar over the naming of the market established on both sides of Bhairab – Mymensingh regional highway in Kalikaprasad Union.
Tensions had been rising between the two villagers for several days over this issue. As a result, the two sides clashed this morning.
One person was killed and 20 others people from both sides were injured. The deceased was identified as Masud Miah (35) , son of Asad Miah in Purbapara village of Bhairab.
Bhairab, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) KM Mamunur Rashid confirmed the incident and said that law enforcement officers are working to control the situation. Additional police were deployed from the district
