Want to flourish NU as global hub of higher edu: VC
A view-sharing meeting was held with the heads of National University affiliated colleges and institutions located in Thakurgaon district with the aim of ensuring the quality of higher education, academic autonomy and infrastructural and digital transformation of regional colleges.
Speaking as the chief guest at the meeting held at the Eco College auditorium in Thakurgaon on Friday evening, National University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Amanullah said, “We are working to develop the National University not only as the largest university in the country, but also as a reliable and global hub of quality higher education.
The development of the overall education system is impossible if we do not give equal importance to colleges in marginal and remote areas.”
Dr. Amanullah said, “In this era of globalization, a radical change in the traditional education system is necessary.
Our main goal is to ensure that our students can acquire skills suitable for the modern world. For this purpose, the National University is reorganizing its curriculum, emphasizing innovation and research-based education.”
He reiterated the university administration’s commitment to strengthen online learning platforms in colleges in northern districts like Thakurgaon as soon as possible, modernise libraries and labs, and completely eliminate session jams.
At the same time, he called on the principals and teachers of each institution to conduct teaching activities with honesty, dedication, and new innovative perspectives, says a press release.
Speaking about the new reform policy of the National University, Dr. Amanullah said, “The regional centers are being further strengthened and empowered so that the principals do not have to repeatedly run to the Gazipur campus for general academic and administrative work.”
Director of the National University Regional Center Coordination Office Md. The meeting, chaired by Aminul Akhter, was attended by Thakurgaon Eco College Principal Selina Akhter, Thakurgaon Government College Principal Professor Md. Mokarram Hossain, Thakurgaon Government Women’s College Principal Professor Md. Zulfiqar Ali, and principals and heads of various colleges affiliated to the district.
After this exchange of views held in a cordial atmosphere, a pleasant cultural program was presented with the participation of local and college students of Thakurgaon.
Traditional folk songs, dances and dramas were performed in the cultural program, which fascinated the guests.
