5 more death in measles

Five more children died with measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours until 8:00am on Friday, raising the combined number of confirmed and suspected measles-related deaths in Bangladesh to 810.

According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), all the latest fatalities have been classified as suspected measles deaths.

With the latest update, the number of suspected measles deaths has increased to 715, while laboratory-confirmed measles deaths remain unchanged at 95.

The DGHS reported 950 new suspected measles cases during the 24-hour period, taking the total number of suspected cases nationwide to 122,150.

Meanwhile, 187 new laboratory-confirmed infections were recorded, bringing the total number of confirmed measles cases to 15,194.

Since March 15, a total of 104,717 patients with suspected measles have been hospitalised across the country, of whom 101,056 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
