Zero tolerance on drugs urged
State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku has called for the toughest possible measures against drugs, urging everyone to remain vigilant from their respective positions to protect the younger generation and build a prosperous nation.
He made the remarks while addressing a programme as the chief guest at Sonar Bangla Community Centre on District Sadar Road in Tangail on Friday afternoon.
At the event, the state minister distributed scholarships, crests and certificates among around 500 meritorious students from playgroup to Class 10 of schools and madrasahs under an initiative of the Teachers Foundation Central Committee, Tangail unit.
The programme was chaired by Teachers Foundation Central Committee Tangail President Dr Khandakar Anisul Haque.
Tangail district BNP President Md Hasanuzzamil Shaheen, former Member Secretary of Tangail district BNP Mahmudul Haque Sanu and UPTC Instructor of Ajmiriganj, Habiganj Md Islam Mia attended the event as special guests.
Tuku said preventing the spread of narcotics and guiding young people towards a positive path is a shared responsibility of everyone.
He said protecting the younger generation from drug abuse is essential for creating skilled, ethical and patriotic citizens who can contribute to nation-building.
The state minister said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has introduced the “Notun Kuri” competition to help students develop their skills and abilities through participation in both academic and co-curricular activities.
He said today’s meritorious students would play a leading role in building a prosperous Bangladesh in the future, urging families, teachers and society to work together to support their development.
Tuku also stressed that students should not focus only on academic achievements but should grow into ideal citizens with strong moral values, humanity and patriotism.
Teachers Foundation Central Committee Tangail General Secretary Mamunur Rashid, Literary Affairs Secretary Babu Bhobesh Mukut Pal, along with teachers, students, guardians and distinguished guests, attended the programme.
