BADC’s spl steps to ensure dynamism to farmers
Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) is committed to providing quality seeds, non-urea fertilisers and irrigation facilities, which are essential for crop production, to the doorsteps of farmers on time and without any hassle.
As part of this, BADC is working to import non-urea fertilisers from different countries under the supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture under the G2G system, i.e. under state agreements, and to reach the prices set by the government to farmers across the country through dealers.
The work of supplying fertilisers is being carried out through about ten thousand authorised seed and fertilizer dealers at the district-upazila and union levels across the country.
BADC Chairman Md. Azizul Islam has already taken an effective step to bring more dynamism to this fertiliser management programme, ensure transparency and accountability, resolve artificial crises and strengthen the monitoring system.
It is to be noted that after the supply of fertiliser to the dealers, the Joint Directors and Deputy Directors at various levels working at the field level have been instructed to inspect the shops and sales centers of the dealers to monitor it, says a press release.
During the inspection, it has been emphasized that whether the dealers are updating the daily sales register, whether the farmers are being given correct sales receipts, whether the farmers’ signatures/tips and mobile numbers are being kept on the receipts, whether the actual fertiliser stock is in the warehouse as per the dealer’s own stock register and whether the sales center is being run by the dealer himself or his appointed employees should be monitored on the spot.
BADC sources said that this step will be very helpful in selling fertiliser to the farmers at the price fixed by the government.
At the same time, it will also play a role in developing the government’s smart and modern agricultural management by preventing the fertiliser supplied by BADC from falling into the hands of the black market and creating artificial crises.
