Husband slits wife’s throat in Kalkini

A 60-years old woman was killed due to a family dispute in Kalkini upazila of Madaripur district on Saturday.

The deceased Jobeda Begum is the wife of Sultan Sardar of Auliarchar village in Banshgari union of the upazila.

Confirming the matter, Officer in Charge of Kalkini Police Station Zahirul Alam said that it is not known exactly why her husband killed the old woman.

However, the brother of the deceased has made all preparations to take legal action at the police station.

The incident took place at around 11:30 pm on Saturday, when Jobeda Begum fell asleep in her room after eating, the OC said.

Later, upon receiving the information, SI Ripon Ali of Khaserhat Police Investigation Center, along with SI Md. Billal Hossain of Kalkini Police Station, conducted a raid with a joint force and apprehended the accused husband Sultan.

After recovering the body of the deceased on Sunday morning, the police station sent it to the Madaripur morgue for autopsy.

However, the relatives of the deceased said that Jobeda and Sultan were a childless couple. There had been a long-standing loggerheads between the two of them over this.
