EC to publish draft centre list on Aug 10

The Election Commission will publish the draft list of polling centres for the upcoming local government elections on August 10.

The final list will be published on August 27, according to a letter issued by the EC today.

Claims and objections regarding the draft polling centre list can be submitted until August 18. The EC said those claims and objections will be disposed of by August 23.

Earlier, the commission said it would publish the draft voter list on August 9 and the final voter roll on August 31.

On July 7, the EC revised the Polling Stations Setup and Management Guideline for local government elections. Under the revised guideline, the timeline for publishing polling centre lists for zila and upazila parishads has been reduced from 25 days to 15 days.

However, the 15-day timeline for publishing polling centre lists for union parishads, municipalities and city corporations remains unchanged.

The EC plans to begin the local government polls with union parishad elections in the first half of October.
