Arthy to lead exceptional dance fest ‘Ghonoghota 2’

To welcome the monsoon in the cultural arena of the capital, an exceptional dance
festival titled ‘Ghonoghota 2’ will be held at Bakultala of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University (DU) on July 17 (Friday). The event, jointly produced by Arthy Ahmed Dance Academy and the Faculty of Fine Arts, DU will start at 11:00am.

The biggest attraction of the festival held under the open sky is the participation of more than 300 amateur dancers. Participants of different ages, from 3-year-old children to 70-year-old elders, will welcome the monsoon through dance.

Ekushey Padak-winning dancer Arthy Ahmed, the director of the event, said, “‘Ghonoghota’ is not just a dance production, it is a festival of new beginnings. Age is not a barrier here; our goal is to create opportunities for hidden dreams and artistry to be expressed.”

People from various professions, including doctors, engineers, scientists, researchers, teachers, journalists, social workers, bankers and housewives, are participating in this year’s festival.

Last year, 110 dancers participated in the first event at the same venue, but this time the number has increased to over 300 due to the audience response.

Spectators are requested to wear white, blue or green clothes and are urged not to use umbrellas.
In addition, there will be a donation booth of ‘Jago Foundation’ at the venue to help the flood-affected people of the Chattogram Hill Tracts.
