



The ‘International Baul and Folk Culture Festival’ began in London, UK on July 10, organised by UK Management College (UK), Bangladesh Baul and Folk Artistes’ Association, Udichi UK and International Mother Language Institute.
Several artistes from Bangladesh are participating in the festival. The main attraction of this festival is Baul Shafi Mondol and Doly Mondol.
The organisers said that the festival was inaugurated on July 10 at the UK Management College in Manchester, UK.
After that, a special cultural programme on Baul and folk music will be held in Scotland on July 15. An international seminar and workshop on Baul and folk music have been organised at Queen Mary University of London on July 18.
The four-day event will end with a closing cultural function at the London Town Hall on July 19.
Apart from Shafi Mondol and Doly Mondol, Sardar Hirak Raja and Zohra Zami are also performing at the festival.
Artistes from Bangladesh and UK, as well as university teachers and students, researchers and expatriates from both countries are participating in the festival.
