‘Police welfare vital for effective public service’

Narayanganj Police Super (SP) Mohammad Mizanur Rahman Munshi has said that effective public service cannot be ensured without safeguarding the welfare of police personnel.

Speaking at the Narayanganj District Police’s monthly Welfare and Crime Review Meeting, the SP urged officers to report any professional challenges to their senior authorities, assuring them that every effort would be made to address their concerns.

“Our primary objective is to earn the trust of the people. Every police member must perform their duties with professionalism, integrity and compassion.

We must strictly enforce our zero-tolerance policy against drugs, terrorism and extortion, while ensuring transparency and efficiency in criminal investigations,” he said.

The meeting was held at the Police Lines Drill Shed on Thursday to review the district’s law and order situation and discuss measures to improve the welfare of police personnel.

During the session, officers from various units raised a range of work-related issues.

SP Munshi directed the concerned officials to take prompt action to resolve those problems.

He further said that maintaining law and order and eliminating crime require active cooperation between the police and the public.

“We are fully committed to building a safe, secure and livable Narayanganj,” he added.

As part of the event, outstanding police personnel in different categories were recognised and rewarded for their exceptional professional performance.

The initiative was aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, motivation and a stronger sense of duty within the force.

The subsequent Crime Review Meeting focused on the district’s overall law and order situation, with detailed discussions on combating drug trafficking, gambling, terrorism, extortion, juvenile crime, and violence against women and children.

Senior officers issued directives to strengthen enforcement efforts and ensure public safety.

The meeting was attended by senior officials of the district police, along with representatives of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Industrial Police, River Police and Tourist Police.
