‘18hrs of continuous shooting’

‘Mardaani’ is one of the most successful and popular franchises of Yash Raj Films. After the
previous two installments took the box office by storm, now the third installment ‘Mardaani 3’
is coming to the silver screen.

However, the experience of shooting this movie was not easy at all for Rani Mukherjee. Especially while shooting the climax or the last scene of the film, she had to stay awake for 18 hours straight; which really tested her physical and mental endurance.

Rani Mukherjee herself has opened up about her unique and challenging experience. She said, “I think every job has its own challenges. But for me, shooting in the night shift is always the most difficult because I am a morning person by nature. I like to wake up early in the morning and go to bed early at night.”

“So whenever we have a night schedule, I have to change my entire routine. Plus, I don’t like to sleep during the day, so it’s quite difficult to adapt to that routine,” she added.

However, this glamour girl has found a different side to working the night shift, along with the hardships. Describing the magical atmosphere of the night-time shoot, Rani says, “Nevertheless, there is something special about shooting at night. The energy on the set is different. When the entire city is asleep, the film crew works together fully awake. There is a strange silence as everything is quiet around, and that atmosphere brings a different kind of focus and excitement
to the shoot.”

In Rani’s words, “The most challenging experience was shooting the climax sequence. We shot for 18 hours straight, starting at 3pm and ending at 10:00am the next day.

It wasn’t just the schedule that made it difficult, but the scene was also physically demanding and required a lot of strength and intensity. After shooting all night, it definitely pushed me to the limit of my endurance. But seeing the way the scene finally unfolded on screen, all that hard work felt worthwhile.”
