Chhatra Dal begins commemorations for July Uprising

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has announced a month-long programme to commemorate the second anniversary of the July-August mass uprising, with activities aimed at honouring the martyrs and injured, preserving the movement’s historical legacy and promoting national unity against fascism.

In a press release issued on Tuesday, the student organisation said the series of events has been planned to observe the historic July-August uprising, pay tribute to those who were martyred and injured, preserve historical memories, recognise the contributions of all stakeholders, establish national unity against fascism, and mark the second anniversary of the people’s long struggle and victory against misrule.

The commemorative programme will begin with an event titled “Aloy Aloy Smriti Somujjol” (Memories Illuminated by Light) at the Central Shaheed Minar in the first hour of July 1.

According to the organisation, the opening event will feature the rendition of the national anthem and a candlelight vigil in memory of the martyrs of the July-August uprising.
