‘Employment key to nation’s progress’

Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Md Raihan Kabir has said that employment is the key to a nation’s progress.

He noted that the RAISE Project of the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) has created a platform that brings together youth training, skills development, and employment opportunities.
He emphasised that the government’s goal is to ensure that every educated and trained young person has access to suitable employment based on their qualifications.

He made these remarks as the chief guest at the inauguration of the Job Fair 2026, organized under the RAISE Project and implemented by Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK) with technical support from PKSF. The fair aims to develop a skilled workforce and create employment opportunities for young people. The event was inaugurated on Wednesday (June 24) at the Hira Community Center in Chashara, Narayanganj.

The Deputy Commissioner also encouraged young people to develop an entrepreneurial mindset alongside pursuing education and vocational training. He assured participants of the district administration’s full support for all employment-oriented initiatives.

Among the special guests was Shahinur Rahman, Environmental Specialist of the RAISE Project at PKSF. The event was chaired by Md. Alauddin, Joint Director (Credit Operations) of DSK. He stated that the primary objective of the Recovery and Advancement of Informal Sector Employment (RAISE) Project is to assist young people affected by the post-COVID economic downturn by providing them with skills training and reintegrating them into the labour market.

He added that the job fair is an important part of that effort. Organised under the RAISE Project, the fair featured participation from various companies and organisations in sectors including garments, information technology, and services. Job seekers had the opportunity to meet employers directly, submit their resumes, and attend on-the-spot interviews. According to the organisers, the main goal of the fair is to connect skilled and semi-skilled workers with labour market demands.

They believe the initiative will play a significant role in reducing unemployment and promoting self-employment opportunities.

Officials from PKSF, DSK, and the RAISE Project, along with local dignitaries, teachers, and a large number of job seekers, attended the event.
