Ronaldo bags 4 major records

Cristiano Ronaldo further cemented his legacy in football history by setting four major FIFA World Cup records during Portugal’s Group K clash against Uzbekistan at Houston Stadium on Tuesday.

Ronaldo became the first male player to score in six different FIFA World Cup editions when he struck just six minutes into the match against Uzbekistan, adding another landmark to his extraordinary international career.

The Portugal captain also extended his record for scoring across the most major international tournament editions, with goals now registered in 11 combined FIFA World Cup and UEFA European Championship campaigns.

Portugal’s all-time top WC scorers
Cristiano Ronaldo – 10*
Eusebio – 9
Pauleta – 4
José Augusto – 3
José Torres – 3
He later added a second goal of the match to become Portugal’s outright leading scorer in FIFA World Cup history, surpassing legendary striker Eusebio with 10 goals.

Ronaldo achieved this milestone across six World Cup appearances and 24 matches, while Eusebio scored his nine goals in just six matches during the 1966 tournament.

The achievement further underlines Ronaldo’s remarkable consistency, having first scored at a World Cup in 2006 against Iran and now finding the net across six editions of the tournament, with goals in the 2010, 2014, 2018, 2022 and 2026 editions.

The 41-year-old also became the oldest European player ever to score at a major international tournament at 41 years and 138 days, while ranking as the second-oldest goalscorer in World Cup history, behind Cameroon’s Roger Milla, who scored at 42 years and 39 days.
