A Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) operation at the Shibganj Sonamasjid border has led to the seizure of a large quantity of smuggled Indian truck parts, along with a stone-laden truck, and the arrest of one person.
The arrested individual is Md. Mahfuzur Rahman (23), son of Shafiqul Islam of Bosjitpur village under Kansat Union.
According to a BGB press release issued on Sunday acting on secret information, a patrol team from Sonamasjid BOP conducted the operation at around 8:40 pm on June 20.
The team searched a stone-laden truck (Dhaka Metro-T-15-5198) in the Pirojpur area of Shahbazpur Union in Shibganj upazila, about 800 yards inside Bangladesh from border pillar 185/1-S.
During the search, 320 pieces of Indian truck parts hidden inside the vehicle were recovered.
The truck, along with approximately 10 tons of Indian stones and the recovered parts, was seized, and the accompanying individual, Mahfuz, was arrested.
It is noted that earlier on June 19, the same battalion (Mahananda Battalion, BGB-59) recovered 207 pieces of Indian vehicle parts from an abandoned pond during another operation.
